Welcome to Texas...

The other day someone made the comment to me, if you don't like the weather in Texas, just wait until tomorrow. We've had a few good rainstorms since we got here that were pretty impressive. But, nothing that compared to last night. Allie told me last night that there was supposed to be a thunderstorm. I knew that she was worried about it and so I did my best to soothe her fears. I put the kids to bed at 9 and by 9:15 they were all out (very rare.) We usually have at least one getting out of bed several times. I was getting ready for bed and looking forward to reading a little bit. Well, that was when all hell broke loose. I saw the first flicker of lightning and thought, oh I hope that was it. Then it was as if this huge thunderstorm was dropped right on top of our house. The neighbors car alarms were all going off and the wind was fierce. Allie and Liv woke up scared, so I brought them into my bed. Ashlie must have been really tired because she slept through the entire thing. This storm rolled on for about an hour and it was seriously non-stop lightning, the loudest thunder I've ever heard and raining so hard you couldn't see out the window. (I was actually scared too.) Come to find out, there were tornadoes just 30 miles Northeast of us and 50 miles Southwest of us and the loud sirens we kept hearing were the tornado warnings. Wow what an initiation! Phil missed all of the action. He was in San Antonio. This morning we woke up to clear, blue skies and bright sunshine. So, I guess if we don't like the weather in Texas we'll just wait until tomorrow.
